Thumbs up for Iron Man: Armored Adventures
In a recent blog review from Reilly 2040, the animated series Iron Man: Armored Adventures received the thumbs up from the source’s comic fiend writer.
The review reads: “…it’s sucked me in. Yes, reimagining everyone as sixteen years old takes some getting used to, but in general I think this is a pretty well-made cartoon, helped in part by the plot arc with the Mandarin, while also setting up other plots that come back in later episodes.”
The cartoon action series – in this writer’s opinion – is a bit influenced by the movie. For example, Obidiah Stane is one of the main recurring villains in the show. Stane takes over Stark Industries after the death of Tony Stark’s father, Howard, and he begins churning out military hardware – much to Tony’s chagrin.
Since he is only sixteen years old, Tony is forced out of the company and lives with his best friend James Rhodes. However, he makes use of his Iron Man armor suit to attempt to dig up dirt on Stane in order to eventually expose him for the villain that he is.
“Iron Man’s rogues gallery is pretty well served by this show,” continues the write up. “…In the episodes I’ve seen, outside of Stane and Mandarin, there’s also been appearances by the Crimson Dynamo, the Controller, AIM and Madame Masque.”
The show’s main writer, Christopher Yost, worked hard to maintain the original integrity of the Iron Man cast of characters – even if they appear as teenagers in the show. Yost was a bit worried at first, but as the project went forward he realized that it was going to turn out just fine – and perfect for a young audience.
