Iron Man: Armored Adventures villains ‘on target’
Iron Man: Armored Adventures has gotten excellent feedback regarding the animated series’ range of villains. The show features a teenage Tony Stark whose genius capabilities lead him to create the Iron Man suit in order to protect the world against the evil plots of a cast of immoral characters.
The show’s main writer, Christopher Yost, is proud of the project he’s worked so hard on, and specifically of the wide range of evil doers featured in the series stemming from the comic book.
“For the most part, the villains that Tony faces are pretty much on target,” he tells Comic Book Resources. “They’re the adult villains. You’ve got characters like Whiplash, Crimson Dynamo and Blizzard. The Iron Man rouges gallery is kind of a funny thing because there’s not a lot of stand outs in it. There’s a lot of weirdness in it too. You’ve got guys like Unicorn and Killer Shrike. You know, things that don’t quite make the top ten villains list of all time. But at the same time you’ve got Mandarin and the Living Laser, so you’ve got the big ones in there too. But we used as many as we could humanly possibly fit in there.”
The fact that the series presents a teenage hero means that the show is a bit different from the comic books, but it makes Iron Man: Armored Adventures that much more accessible to a younger audience. Thus far in the series’ history, however, there has been no disputing that the show’s cast of villains is superb.
“You’re going to see a bunch of fighting,” Yost goes on. “The show has a very unique animated style and let me tell you that when they start the big fights, with the big energy, it’s great. I just saw a screener of episode twelve and it’s pretty great. It’s an Iron Man vs. Crimson Dynamo episode and it’s pretty badass.”
