Iron Man: Armored Adventures interacts with larger Marvel Universe
Talented writer Christopher Yost, a self-described “hardcore comic fan,” was excited to begin work on the new animated series Iron Man: Armored Adventures.
The show deals with comic book hero Tony Stark and his adventures inside of the invincible Iron Man suit – but does so in such a way that makes the ordinarily risqué character much more kid friendly, because in this series, Tony Stark and his friends Pepper and Rhodey are all teenagers.
Every episode delves into a different battle against the forces of evil, and Tony Stark must constantly update the technology behind his Iron Man suit in order to keep ahead of a lengthy cast of villains. The characters may be young, but there is a depth about them that sparks empathy in the audience.
Yost tells Comic Book Resources: “With Iron Man: Armored Adventures, part of the fun is that you are interacting with the larger Marvel Universe too, which does happen in Armored Adventures. The bottom line is that all of Marvel’s properties share one great thing and that is the characters are real people. The reason that they are so identifiable is because they’re real. Iron Man as Tony Stark is someone we know. He’s got doubts, fears, he gets angry, he gets upset and he’s got drama just like real life. It just so happens that he can put on a pretty amazing fusion suit and go after bad guys too. So one of the things that you’ll see in Armored Adventures is a lot of that drama. I got to tell you, I had my doubts going in but the more and more we worked on it, I was sold.”
